The Modernist Drop Necklace

Some pieces tell you what they want to become. This unsigned vintage articulated brooch—with its free-form sculptural lines and dangling black beads—already felt more like wearable art than a traditional brooch.

I paired it with a substantial vintage Erwin Pearl chain, but simply hanging it from the chain felt too expected. Instead, I worked the toggle directly through one of the brooch’s original openings, allowing its own architecture to become part of the design.

The result feels effortless but entirely intentional—bold, sculptural and a little unexpected. A one-of-one piece where the vintage components weren’t just combined; they were completely reimagined.
